Hurricane Mk. Ic

"Fairy tales are more than true; not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten."
-Neil Gaiman

Deo sat in his room, frustrated, confused, and dazed. He had no idea of what to do. Did he lose her? His thoughts ran miles, but every mile it only seemed to be her. Via was beautiful, more beautiful than you will ever know. She was the kind of girl who didn't look twice at him. She was so beautiful she could have had any guy. Deo was the kind of guy you wouldn't look twice at. Timid, quiet, you won't expect much from a guy like him. He was no Zac Efron, Ansel Elgort, or Luke Hemsworth. He was just Deo, just Deo. The guy who loved Math, Science, History and all the shit you'd fall asleep to in school. He loved video games, particularly War Thunder which he excelled at, and for that he was called a pilot by his peers.

He met her in their Filipino class  in college. At first he didn't think twice of her but when his friend introduced her to him on his birthday, he just fell, BAD. She was part of this Miss Universe-like competition that Deo went to. He went there in his jeans and a crappy shirt he wore to class the same day, without knowing that it was a black tie event. He couldn't find a ride, he got there around 7 all sweaty and exhausted, but he had to be there for her. He just had to because he didn't know how to show effort for her but he had to just show up there for support. She didn't even see him, but when he saw her, she was the most beautiful girl there.

Then the term ended, they never really got to see each other again. And all of a sudden he found out she got a boyfriend. It crushed him, tore him to pieces. Seeing her go. But it was expected, I mean who would fall for someone like fucking Deo, whose greatest achievement is 5th fucking place in the National Speaking Competition. What a fucking nerd. Christ. Eventually they broke up, and Deo came to the rescue, but still they were 'just friends'. And that's where we are today.

Deo's confused because he asked her out once and there were a breakdown of communications, and Deo, in a flurry of emotions, kinda said some things. He really cared for her, but he didn't know how to express it, so he kinda expressed it in anger. He was never very good at expressing things, since he kept all his spite bottled up most of his life. So they talked, he apologized, and around Christmastime, he asked her out, and she said yes around the first week of classes. He was happy, very happy. But little did he know his happiness was about to run out.

He went back and asked her if she could join him in watching Deadpool, a movie anticipated badly by Deo. He loves it so much he's been waiting for it since the trailer for it came out Comic Con 2015. But the thing is she yielded no reply since. And now he's sad. He's sad because he's insecure. Insecure that he isn't what she's looking for, not someone this beautiful girl wants. Every night he talks to God about her. About how she's so beautiful and so wonderful how much he likes her and just generally how much he wants to make her happy. But he's afraid, so afraid that maybe even when he does everything, he could never provide the happiness she so deserved. And that kills him. Kills him to the core. Right now he just loves Via, and that's all there is to it. But he knows also that in terms of World War II aircraft, Maru was just a Gladiator, and she was a Sea Hurricane Mk. Ic.
